About

James.is /
… a designer
… a web devloper
… an educator
… a traveller

My day job is teaching at Belmont University, while finishing up my Masters in Fine Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design. I absolutely love teaching it (minus that whole grading thing).

A few years a go, I built a portfolio content management system for a friend. That application turned out to be very popular with my friends, so I made the application a web service and now it hosts sites from all over the country. This service became known as Pixolio.me, and this site is running on Pixolio.

Before teaching, I worked professionally as a video and motion graphics producer, working on both national broadcasts to local philanthropy videos. My artistic interests include video production, web and print design, and photography. Within the realm of photography, I prefer traditional (film) and alternative process techniques, such as cyanotype, van dyke brown, and gum bichromate.

As for my free time (whenever it comes), I love to travel and I believe it has made me who I am. I have been to over 25 countries in 5 continents (still lacking Australia and Antarctica, I'm not sure how I will achieve the latter). I lived in London, England when I was in the fifth grade and the two most recent international trips were to South Africa and China… I can't think of one country I wouldn't want to go back too.
